Homemade Falafel, Pitta & Turkish Salad

This simple recipe is quick to make using tinned chickpeas rather than dried so that you can make homemade falafel in less than 40 minutes without needing a blender. The recipe for the accompanying salad, known as a Tabbouleh, was provided by Jackie Carter, a long standing resident and community leader of Fellows Court. She got the recipe from her Turkish neighbour. The salad is a classic combination of tomatoes, cucumber, parsley, red onion and bulgur wheat with a lemony garlic dressing.

MK Falafel mix: 1 tbsp plain flour, 1tbsp sesame seeds, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 ½ tsp ground cumin, 1 tsp ground coriander
Bulgur wheat
Pitta breads
Red onion
Fresh parsley
Garlic cloves
Natural yoghurt
